David's solution was close to this.
Here is the solution
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^webmail\\..*$ http://mydomain.com:8001/ [L,R]
Strictly speaking it redirects domains *beginning* with webmail
Which is what I think you want anyway.
If you really want domains *containing* webmail then
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule webmail\\..*$ http://mydomain.com:8001/ [L,R]
