There was one done as a summer of code project. JEmail if I'm not mistaken.  Not sure what was ever done with it...

Is there a mail handler for Joomla that lets you add content to your site by sending an email?  (Drupal has this.)

Is it as easy as having a script parse files in /mail/new and then inserting into the database?  If so, how would security be handled to prevent spam from being uploaded to the site?
